Convenience retailer, Centra, has claimed 35 accolades at this year’s Great Taste Awards, making them the number one award winning convenience retailer in Ireland. Centra’s award wins span a multitude of their range, but most notably eight wins for their brand new Inspired by Centra range, only on shelf for the past few weeks.
Centra has conducted *research which shows that 95% of participants believe that hurling is an integral part of our national identity. Centra, proud sponsor of the GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship for the last nine years, today released their #WeAreHurling survey results, which showcase the importance of our national sport and the role it plays in communities across the country.
Minister for Communications, Climate Action and Environment Denis Naughten TD has announced that Frank and Honest, which is available in Centra stores across Ireland, will replace all non-recyclable single-use cups with a new compostable cup and lid from September this year. CupPrint and Down2Earth Materials will supply the compostable cups and create 20 new Irish jobs in Ennis and Cork to cater for the increase in production.
Centra Parnell Street has won IGD’s Innovative Store of the Year award. The award, sponsored by McCurrach UK, was presented at the annual IGD Awards which took place on 3rd October, as more than 600 senior executives gathered to toast the biggest achievements in food and industry over the last twelve months.
Pippa O’Connor today launched Centra’s initiatives to support the Irish Cancer Society this Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year over 2,900 people in Ireland will be told they have breast cancer, with eight women diagnosed with breast cancer in Ireland every day. Centra is joining the Irish Cancer Society in the fight against breast cancer, as stores across Ireland get their cups at the ready for ‘Cups against cancer’ coffee mornings.
